Removal of the stone founded structure in the NW corner of Trench 3

The first excavation is under way in Trench 3; following a week of tarp removal, cleaning and catching up on recording. We are back in the northwest corner removing the stone founded building that we worked on for much of last season.

Trowelling the surface down after the removal of the stone founded building.

We should now be in a position to expose more of the mortar surface that lies beneath. Could this be the floor surface of an earlier building? Time will tell.
