Finds Flash!

Over the past few days Trench 3 has provided us with some exciting moments. During the excavation of the baulk we began to uncover iron fragments. Stef, one of our American students, unearthed what we think is part of a cauldron. On the inner curve of the fragment we found organic material adhering to the surface.

In the NW corner of the trench, Constance uncovered a well preserved Styca which we think dates from approx. 796-810 based on the design. A preliminary investigation suggests the name reads Eardwulf. If anyone has any ideas we would love to hear from you.
