Trench Three Update

Over the last few days Trench 3 has had something of a facelift. The trench has been planned afresh by John and various areas of the trench have had wheel barrows full of stones cleared from the surface, which has enabled us to find some new features and define others.

The students are currently learning how to level, plan and take samples. Yesterday was particularly interesting as we took some samples for c14 dating from a context of heavy burning. The rest of the week will be spent planning the newly unearthed and cleaned areas.

Assistant Supervisor Dan provides the wind break as students Naj and Lorraine excavate for the c14 samples at the potential entrance to the Anglo-Saxon building.
